Job Purpose :
The Taiwan consumer business operates in a developed, sophisticated, digitally advanced and highly regulated market. Competition comes from large established local banks, other international banks and, increasingly, non-bank entrants.
The Consumer Business Manager is responsible for all aspects of the consumer business in Taiwan. Specifically, these include its strategic direction, franchise expansion, and profitability and performance in a highly competitive market. The role will ensure that country-level objectives are met and that a clear strategy is developed, communicated and executed.
The role is required to deliver market potential by acquiring and developing strong relationships with target customers, business partners and regulators in Taiwan, maximizing revenue, margin and EBIT growth, expanding scale, offering differentiated customer value propositions, achieving benchmark attrition levels and implementing an integrated distribution and platform which delivers remarkable experience to our customers.
This role provides an opportunity for a high potential and high performing candidate (with strong banking experience, consumer banking preferred) to develop and implement all aspects of strategy and customer delivery within the respective business. The role holder will have exposure to senior executives regionally and globally, and deal with complex and highly matrixed Asia Pacific-wide management issues.
Job Background / Context :
Taiwan consumer business provides retail banking products to Consumers ranging from Deposits, Investments, mortgages, insurance, FX, Credit Cards and Personal Loans.
Key Responsibilities :
To deliver market potential by acquiring and developing strong relationships with target consumers in Taiwan, maximizing revenue, margin and EBIT growth, expanding perceptual scale, offering differentiated customer value propositions, achieving benchmark attrition levels and implementing an integrated distribution & delivery platform which delivers remarkable experience to our customers.

Design and implement business strategies to achieve GCB Must Win Battles
Align the organization structure and business infrastructure to the new industry revenue dynamic
Deliver on the key drivers of the strategic plan for the Taiwan Consumer Business: (1) Higher throughput, Digitally delivered (2) Right Customer, Relevant Proposition (3) Remarkable Experience, In-Built Controls
Set strategic direction for the business in terms of ambition, products, partners, business development, segments, and channels
Re-iterate and drive downward into the organization the Strategic Priorities and Vision
Ensure technology leadership across products with a focus on innovation and first in market launches of products and services
P&L and Balance Sheet Responsibility :
Full P&L responsibility for Consumer Bank to assure delivery of planned financials and growth
Manage all key business drivers such as Costs, Revenues, Operating efficiency, ROA, Credit, Receivables, Profit/ Customer and new account performance
Coordinate and monitor all marketing initiatives to assess and evaluate their results with respect to spending levels
Control NCL and delinquency within country by instituting segmentation and loss mitigation programs
Minimize fraud/fraud loss by ensuring implementation of adequate controls/preventive measures
Day-to-Day Business Management :
Manage Credit and risk within the portfolio
Develop, and coordinate execution of consumer banking business plan
Oversees Customer Experience initiatives, productivity metrics, Distribution and Branch Selling Processes
Ensure that appropriate controls and procedures are in place; audit readiness 24x7
People Management :
Build, lead, coach and motivate Senior Managers to achieve annual business objectives. Have a strong TIR process and succession bench for all key positions.
Ensure appropriate resources and skill sets are made available to the business; develop robust plan for significant hiring in the next 3 years
Develop managerial skills of direct reports into high quality managers through both training and challenging on-the-job assignments
Coordinate providing growth and training opportunities to staff in the Consumer Business
Development Value :

Post graduate qualification/MBA or equivalent highly desirable
Strong banking experience (consumer banking preferred)
Managed businesses with significant geographical diversity
